Playing my piano after Nic has tuned it is an inspiring experience. I rely on him both to tune my own instrument and to tune for recordings.
Nic has been looking after our pianos for more years than I can remember. He is a highly skilled technician and tuner, but he also has the knowledge and experience to get the best tone, touch and tuning out of our instruments, not just when they are new, but also over the course of their (sometimes extended) lives. It is a treat to come back home to instruments, which, due to his skillful care and maintenance, work and sound at their best – as they were designed to do!
Nic Hamilton has wrought his magic on my ninety year old concert grand piano, restoring correct functioning to its action and making it a joy to play. Few people would have had the skill, patience and ingenuity to solve the problems we encountered along the way! Nic is a licensed and qualified professional with decades of experience. This is something of a rarity in the piano tuning world. His wealth of experience and knowledge about pianos extends way beyond simple tuning. I was amazed by how much I learned about the workings and dynamics of my piano. He was prompt, reasonably priced and a cracker of a guy. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Nic is that rare beast of piano technicians who has mastered all the ‘dark arts’ of his craft – tuning, regulation, voicing, the list goes on. After knowing him for more than 20 years, he is truly the best in the business, an alchemist that can conjure up the best out of any instrument, no matter what the challenge. Nic has a great affinity with people and it is always a pleasure to have him visit.
When the time came to say good-bye to a much loved companion and upgrade to a new model Nic was truly understanding. He was able to recommend the right instrument for my purposes, advise on purchase and arrange for seamless installation. Our new family member is now settled comfortably in my teaching room. I’ve never met a piano technician and tuner who cares so much about the sound and touch of the instrument! It amazes me how knowledgable he is with the instrument and always brings the best out of not just new ones, but even the old ones as well. He surely is one of the best in this business!
I had to write and tell you what bliss it is to play my piano since you worked on it on Friday. I was almost overcome when I started playing for a singer yesterday afternoon because the sound was so lovely. She also commented on what a gorgeous sound the piano was making.
